Without meaning

In The Fruit Hunters, Adam Gollner's (apparently loosely fact-checked) entertaining meander through the grounds of fruit obsession, he writes of a sign at a Cameroon botanical garden urging the "hiring of a guide: 'Otherwise everything will just be green and nice or strange and spectacular -- without meaning'".

The trees in the Washington Park Arboretum are nicely labeled with species and region. Still, most of my walks through, i find almost everything green and nice, or strange and spectacular.
